Chiefs draft recap: L'Jarius Sneed

With their 4th round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, the Kansas City Chiefs selected LA Tech defensive back L'Jarius Sneed. Sneed is a high-upside pick who is an extreme athlete. He was first in almost every testing category including broad jump, vertican jump, and he ran a 4.37 40-yard dash. The Chiefs really needed depth at cornerback and got it with Sneed who may need a little fine-tuning but he's got all the tools to succeed. He's not just a Tre'mon Smith who was fast. Sneed is a real player who can get to the ball with his long arms and get to the ball at the point of catch. The AFC West is only getting faster and the Chiefs needed a cornerback they could feel good throwing out there with players like Henry Ruggs and Jerry Jeudy in the division. Ward and Breelan along with Fenton are nice players but they all lack long speed. Sneed has that. Sneed is just a pure athletic freak who can play either cornerback or safety but says he's more comfortable at corner. Sneed could potentially slide into the Kendall Fuller role that he had late in the season early on depending on how he does in camp. Sneed started 33 games at LA Tech and recorded 179 tackles, 28 passes defended, and 8 INT's.
