BREAKING: Mizzou Lands 4-Star Forward Kobe Brown

Updated: Oct 21, 2019

Mizzou has landed a commitment from one of the last big names left in the 2019 class in Kobe Brown. Brown, a four star forward from Huntsville, Alabama, fills a major need for Mizzou and gives Cuonzo another piece to work with for the future.

Brown plays for Lee High School in Alabama and he's listed at 6'7", 200 pounds. He is athletic and versatile and provides Mizzou with great depth in the front court. I say front court because that is where I expect him to see most of his minutes his freshman year. Cuonzo plans to play a lot of small ball this year and will be forced to given the lack of depth and experience there with Jontay Porter leaving for the NBA and fellow freshman Tray Jackson only being able to do so much along with Tilmon.

Brown also takes pressure off Martin when talking about getting an elite player in the 2020 class. Not to say they are not still high on any particular player for 2020, but I think many fans were anxious that Martin wouldn't be able to pull in any of his top targets. I think Brown is talented enough to earn major minutes off the bench starting next year and could give Missouri a serious chance to do something next year. Brown, Mckinney, and Jackson make for a very nice 2019 class and gives Missouri three four star prospects.(depending on what site you use for rankings)

The Commitment of Brown leaves Mizzou with only one more scholarship available for the 2019 class which I believe they will pocket as they also just gave another one to former walk-on Parker Braun this afternoon.
